Free Agent Tracker

It’s been roughly 4 days since the beginning of free agency and there have been a handful of splash moves, of course none of those being made by the Bucs.

Peppers now a Bear.

The biggest splash so far was the Bears signing DE Julius Peppers, RB Chester Taylor and TE Brandon Manumaleuna. Peppers who is 30 and going into his 9th season signed a 6 year contract worth potentially $91.5 million with a record $42 million guaranteed. I agree Peppers was the biggest name available in free agency on defense, let’s just hope for the Bears sake that Peppers best years haven’t come and gone. Taylor was brought in to be a compliment to RB Matt Forte who had a disappointing 2009 sophomore season.

Here’s a breakdown of some other significant free agent signings:

Lions: DE Kyle Vanden Bosch & WR Nate Burleson

Jaguars: DE Aaron Kampman & WR Kassim Osgood

Browns: LB Scott Fujita & T Tony Pashos

Giants: S Antrel Rolle

Dolphins: LB Karlos Dansby

Falcons: CB Dunta Robinson

There have also been some significant trades that have happened so far. Most notably the trade of 3rd and 4th round picks from Baltimore to Arizona for WR Anquan Boldin and a 5th round pick. So that now gives the Ravens Flacco, Boldin, Stallworth, Rice and McGahee on offense. I’m not looking forward to playing that team this year as a Buc fan.

The Cardinals have also made a move acquiring S Kerry Rhodes from the Jets to fill the void left by S Antrel Rolle.

Time is passing by and most of the significant free agents have all been signed. The Bucs have 10 picks in this years draft and have said that the draft is where they’ll build this team, it just boggles my mind though that a team like ours with lots of young players wouldn’t want to make a move to add some veteran talent and leadership to this team. I’m left wondering “Where is the $41 million mark Domenik?”
