Marshall headed to Miami.

Brandon Marshall finally got his wish of being traded out of Denver. The now former Broncos WR has been traded to the Miami Dolphins for their 2nd round draft pick in this years drafts well as next years.

Marshall was a restricted free agent and signed his RFA tender with the Broncos yesterday worth approximately $2.5 million. He’s on his way to Miami for a physical and is expected to sign a long term deal with Miami. Marshall wants to be paid like an elite receiver and if that is to happen that would mean that the Dolphins would need to pay him anywhere from $6-$8 million a year.

Marshall has had his fair share of off the field problems. Though personally I feel that his ability on the field far outweighs the things he’s done off the field in regards to significance. He’s coming off his 3rd consecutive 100+ catch season (the only other people to ever do that are Jerry Rice and Marvin Harrison) and his 2nd consecutive Pro Bowl appearance. A season in which he set the single game record for receptions with 21 on Dec 13th against the Colts.

He is one of the best young receivers in the league at only 26 years old. The Dolphins upgraded their offense significantly by adding Marshall. This move makes the AFC East even more interesting after the Jets traded a 5th round pick last week to the Steelers for troubled receiver Santonio Holmes.

Of course I would’ve loved to see the Bucs send their 2 2nd round picks for Marshall. Josh Freeman desperately needs someone else to throw to other than Kellen Winslow. But we all know that the Bucs are bargain shoppers while the rest of the league shops at Neiman Marcus.

[Update: Marshall has signed a 4 year extension with the Dolphins worth $47.5 million. $29 million will be coming over the first 3 years.]
